Stepping Out and Stepping Up In 2012 I'll be bringing more of myself to my business. I'll be focusing on my unique strengths - defining them, polishing them, and letting them shine. I will be approaching the work I do in marketing as part of a larger, more holistic adventure - one that weaves work and play, business and life into a single, colorful tapestry. |

Carpe Annum! This year I resolved not to take on any projects that I don't find challenging and/or interesting, and to only work with clients I really enjoy working with. The reason I got into this line of work was so I could shape my own career destiny - and life is too short to spend on unrewarding work! |

Sharpening the Saw The last few years I have been so focused on delivering for clients I have neglected my own professional development. I am looking forward to attending some webinars, reading some books, engaging on Twitter with people whose ideas and voices I admire but that there is so specific "business" reason to engage with. I also signed on to be a monthly guest columnist for the Doodlekit (the Savvy blogs Content Management System provider) to provide social media advice to small businesses. Since I primarily work B2B it is stretching me out of my comfort zone. |

Getting organized The last coiple of years, I have been moving very quickly. I've learned a tremendous amount, but I need to step back and get organized. I am going to be out of the office on maternity leave for a few months, so I want to take that time to refine my systems so I can be more disciplined and focused when I return to work. |

Walking the Walk I'm continually advising my clients on best practices for content marketing. That includes developing a variety of content to address prospects' concerns -- and keeping it fresh. This year I'm determined to produce new, timely materials that educate my prospects. |

How do you keep yourself on track to keep them?
