FOCUSlogo.jpgI know what you're thinking, "Great, ANOTHER business network - just what I need."

I have to admit, that was my initial reaction when the Savvy Sisters were invited to join as FOCUS experts. However, since joining, I've found the site to be full of focused (hence the name, I'm assuming) information and active conversations and posts from a wide range of contributors.

FOCUS offers three core areas of information (from their site):

  • Q&A – Focus Q&A provides business and technology professionals with an opportunity to ask questions of and receive multiple answers from Focus Experts. It's a great way to get near-instant answers to specific business questions.
  • Research – Produced by leading Experts, Focus Research is designed to provide businesses with the knowledge and insight they need to make seminal decisions. Research offerings are often based on data collected from Focus members and range from topically oriented Research Briefs to authoritative Research Guides that provide in-depth, authoritative analysis of trends and events.
  • Events – Experts also participate in a variety of events, including Roundtables, Webcasts and Summits. Focus Events are built around Expert speakers and provide attendees with an opportunity to personally interact with Experts.

As a member, you can choose to follow specific topics and receive digests of activity within those topics.

Coming up next Thursday, June 16th, Savvy Sister Jamie will be part of a four-person roundtable, The Secrets to Webinar Success. This free, 45-minute online event will touch on a wide range of topics including how webinars fit into  a demand generation strategy, the secret to an effective webinar invite, keys to keeping attendees engaged, and tips for creating well-designed materials that will help you make your point and impress your audience.

If you use webinars or are thinking about using them, we'd love to have you join us for this event.

And even if you can't make the roundtable discussion, you might want to check out Focus as a research and networking resource. Be sure to look us up!

I have been a listed FOCUS Expert since last year and it was one of my resolutions for 2011 to get more engaged. But I haven't. Thanks for this added encouragement to get myself in gear and get active on FOCUS.

Far too many professionals talk and blog about thought leadership (and followship) and fail to take advantage of great platforms like FOCUS and LInkedin for leading or particpating in discussions. And with no good excuse, I count myself in that group.

I remember signing up for FOCUS based on the postive feedback Ardath Albee shared with me. I figured if it was good enough for Ardath, I'm just lucky they let me in. I am very impressed with the detailed and well-organized emails they send that list the current discussion topics and I always intend to dive in. But I haven't.

Your blog today is a much needed wakeup call for me. Thanks!!!!

I'm right with you - definitely striving to make more connections and deliver more value to my varied networks. It can be a challenge - what with life rushing by at 100mph - but it's worth it to invest some time and brain cells in the quality communities like FOCUS.

See you around the "halls" there!
