A favorite Aunt gave my kids a huge collective works of Dr Suess book several years ago. The mere size of the book makes it ideal for the coffee table of our family room so unlike most of our other books which are required to live on the shelf this one is always front and center in our lives. We read a story or two from it every week even thought my kids are getting older and their interests more diverse. Each year when I am the "mystery" reader in their classrooms I lug that big volume with me. The Sneetches, The Lorax and Oh the Places You Will Go are all favorites of mine. In fact a bit of Savvy history the very first post ever on this blog quoted Oh the Places You Will Go and was written my me!
I would add a few books to this list. My additions would be:
The Sneetches by Dr Suess
Stephanie's Ponytail by Robert Munsch
Weekend with Wendell by Kevin Henkes
